Madonna Di Campiglio – Italy – Christmas Visit 2013
With an altitude of 1550 metres Madonna Di Campiglio lies in a valley between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella. It’s approximately 2.5hrs from Verona and is one of the most elegant, truly international resorts in Italy. It has a beautiful town center with traditional restaurants, smart bars and luxury shopping. Pretty quiet at night but there are a few clubs and bars open late.
Today the Ski Area boasts 57 lifts and 150 km of ski runs, with a capacity of more than 31,000 people per hour, 50,000 sq m of snow park, 40 km for Nordic skiing and the link up to the pistes to Pinzolo, Folgarida and Marilleva. There are a number of access lifts so you can easily access the ski area from the hotel you may be staying. Circular ski bus runs all day if you don’t want to walk! Mountain restaurants – good quality and very good with plenty of lunch choices for 10 euros and under.
We stayed at the 3*** family run Alpen Hotel Vidi. Booked through Crystal Ski on on this occasion. Very good location opposite the 3tres world cup run. Easy for the lifts and town center just a minute away. A very warm welcome from the owner and his family and Gianluca in the restaurant and bar makes sure everyone is well looked after. Food really authentic and of a high standard. Large rooms with top notch housekeeping – even towel changes on Christmas Day! Bar prices good for a ski resort with a bottle of wine for under 15 euros. Underrated at 3*** we highly recommend for skiers and non skiers.

4**** hotel overlooking the square. Classy, chic and modern with excellent service. Family run ambiance and fabulous wellness centre. Great bar with occasional pianist. A firm favourite in Madonna di Campiglio
